HIROSHIMA.
Based upon Ron Destro’s play that received the Kennedy Center New American Play Award, for which Yoko Ono wrote the original score when produced off-Broadway, this novel explores the lives and dreams of the residents of Hiroshima, Japan, before and after the atomic bombing.
Novel Two.
THE CHILDREN OF THE CHAIRMAN.
Based upon Ron Destro’s play, which was drawn from personal interviews with a secret political dissident in Hunan, China, this novel explores the lives of perpetrators and victims in the time leading up to, including, and after the Chinese Cultural Revolution.
Ron Destro is a playwright and novelist. He received the Kennedy Center New American Play Award for his stage play HIROSHIMA, for which Yoko Ono wrote the original score, for its off-Broadway run. He and his debut novel, THE STARRE, THE MOONE, THE SUNNE, along with its audiobook narrated by Sir Derek Jacobi, were named Best New Author, Book of the Year 2nd Runner-Up, Audiobook of the Year, and Hawthorne Prize Finalist. His writing mentors include Pulitzer Prize-winner Tad Mosel, Jack Gelber, and Robert Hedley at the Univ. of Iowa’s Writers’ Program.
