Ron has performed more than twenty-five Shakespearean roles, including Feste in the off-Broadway production of TWELFTH NIGHT, which was New York City’s first professional presentation in what is considered Original Pronunciation. Other Shakespeare roles include King Duncan and Siward in MACBETH in Birnam Wood, Scotland; Bottom in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM in Bancroft Gardens, Stratford-upon-Avon; Jaques in AS YOU LIKE IT at Parc des Buttes Chaumont, Paris and at the Forrest of the Ardennes; Old Gobbo in THE MERCHANT OF VENICE at Belmont Palace (Villa Foscari), Venice; Salisbury in HENRY V on the Azincourt battlefield, France; Parolles in ALL’S WELL THAT ENDS WELL at Kensington Gardens, London and at Hedingham Castle in Essex; John of Gaunt and Exton in RICHARD II at Flint Castle, Wales; the Gravedigger in HAMLET at Hamlet’s Grave in Elsinore, Denmark; Tyrell and Oxford in RICHARD III on Bosworth Field, England; Horatio in HAMLET Q1 in Huntsville, Texas; and with the Oxford Shakespeare Company in New York as Pompey in MEASURE FOR MEASURE; Costard in LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST; the Clown and Apothecary in ROMEO AND JULIET Q1; and Camillo in the U.S. premiere of DOUBLE FALSEHOOD.
Non-Shakespeare roles include Donny in AMERICAN BUFFALO (named in the Top Ten shows, Time Out Magazine) at the Finsborough Theatre in London; Estragon in WAITING FOR GODOT at the Shanghai Teachers University, China; Don in AT MAMA TAYLOR’S at SoHo Repertory Theatre; Norman in THE NORMAN CONQUESTS, Brooklyn College Theatre; and the Nephew Judge in CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE at USC, directed by John Houseman.
He has also done various staged readings of his own plays, including with Derek Jacobi, Richard Clifford, Allison Janney, Diane Venora and Peri Gilpin, as well as films, television and commercials.
Ron’s training includes acting, voice, movement, and Laban technique with Royal Academy of Dramatic Art faculty June Kemp, Malcolm McKay, Ben Benison, and Henry Marshall, as well as with other mentors including John Houseman, Cicely Berry, Kristin Linklater, Lucille Ball and several years of private study with RSC co-founder John Barton.
